🧠 Inspiration
The $EXY PIXELS project draws inspiration from the iconic r/place experiment, where communities collaborated pixel by pixel to create art. We wanted to recreate this concept using the security and scalability of Ralph and the Alephium Blockchain.
📝 About
$EXY PIXELS is a social experiment and game for the Alephium Community in which users paint a picture on the same canvas pixel by pixel. It's purpose is to make the act of burning tokens fun. Users burn $EXY to mint pixels and claim their territory on the canvas. It's an experiment because I don't know the outcome. Will the grid be an ugly mess of pixels? Will users collaborate to create larger pictures together? Will minters battle over territory? Nobody knows, but I'm eager to find out.
🎨 Minting
$EXY PIXELS operates through a smart contract on the Alephium blockchain. Users can interact with the canvas by simply clicking an uncolored pixel, choosing a color, then signing a prompt in their Alephium Wallet. Each mint costs a 0.1 $ALPH contract creation fee, and will also burn 690 $EXY Tokens from the minter's wallet. Don't own any $EXY? Buy some here.
✨ Shiny Pixels
Shiny Pixels are pixels that standout by blinking/shining on the canvas. These pixels are special; they burn 10x more tokens than regular pixels (6900 $EXY). Players can use these unique pixels to add a sense of animation to their artwork. To mint a shiny pixel, follow the same process as minting a normal pixel, but use the "Make It Shine" button instead of the "Mint" Button.
🔄 Resetting & Recoloring
Pixels can also be reset to their default uncolored state, or recolored to a new color. To do so, just click a pixel that's already been colored, and choose to either reset or recolor. Resetting a pixel burns twice the amount of $EXY (1380 $EXY) and will return the 0.1 $ALPH contract creation fee to the original minter. Recoloring a pixel burns the same amount as minting (690 $EXY), and does NOT return 0.1 $ALPH to orignal minter. This is to incentivize users to recolor rather than resetting. Once a pixel is reset, it can then be colored again using the same mint process as before.
🔮 What's Next?
We plan on expanding the grid to be larger than 50x50. Additionally, we want to add various mechanics and features to gamify the project. Giving the user the ability to create their own custom grids that burn whatever token they want is also on the agenda for V2.
